System requirements

Server

Middleware/ Plattform
CM-Server require a Java Application Server with Java Enterprise Edition 6 (JRE 1.6).
We recommend the following application servers:

  • JBoss 5.1.0
  • Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1

Operating Systems
We recommend Linux with kernel version 2.6.24 or better and Windows XP up (64 bit, Windows 7 up) respectively.

Hardware
Please follow the recommendations of your middleware vendor.
For a typical installation with 50 concurrent users you should arrange for:

  • at least 2 Gb RAM
  • 5 Gb of disk space
  • 2 GHz Dual Core processor

Network
Please plan for sufficient network capacity between middleware components, i.e., between database, CM-server and web-container.

Client

Primary access to the CM system is by the CM web client. Users will run the client in a web browser. Connecting over SSL is possible. Client machines will need.

Web-Browser:

  • Firefox 3.5 and 3.6
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8

Administration client machines:

  • Java Version 1.5.0_18 or better
  • Java WebStart(tm) properly configured for use in the browser

Hardware:

  • 1 GHz Processor
  • 500 Mb of RAM
  • screen resolution of 1280

Database

The CM system relies on a relational database. We support these products:

  • Oracle 10g and 11g
  • MS SQL Server 2005
  • MySQL 5.1 (from 5.1.48)

Required disk space depends heavily on the type of usage and has to be determined individually for an installation. Typical installations with 50 concurrent users will require 50 Gb of table space and a further 5 Gb every year of operation. Please follow the sytem requirements of your database vendor. We advise for at least 4 Gb of RAM for the database server machine.

Interfaces

  • E-Mail: The ConSol CM system offers an e-Mail interface for the POP3, IMAP and SMTP protocols. It can communicate with one or more e-Mail servers. Connection via SSL is possible.
  • REST: Ticket and contact data could be easily accessed with the REST interface. The simple web service also supports writing access.
  • Optional Interfaces:Other optional interfaces (file, FTP, WebService, …) are implemented using the integrated Enterprise Service Bus.
