Tips for job applicants

When you apply for a job at ConSol*, we try to discover the essentials about you. In addition to general factors like friendliness and intelligence, your technical abilities and job experience are what interest us the most.

To obtain the most objective impression we can, a team of between three and five ConSol* employees will interview you for one to two hours based on your resumé and technical profile. The choice of team members who will interview you, the topic areas and questions we will cover - as well as their difficulty - all depend on your application. We want to make you sweat! But don't worry - this sounds worse than it is.

For this reason, please make sure your application describes you as realistically as possible. If you write the letter 'C' in your technical profile, expect to be asked about exotic details by C experts. If you list certificates like MCSE or Certified Java Developer, we will be sure to test your knowledge.

In case of doubt, it's best for you to grade yourself in individual areas: 4=Beginner, 3=User, 2=Expert, 1=Guru.

Most importantly, be exact. For example, Solaris may mean anything from Solaris 1 (SunOS) to 64-bit Solaris 10. It's better to write something like: Solaris 8 x86 Administration (2).

Try to include all possible fields of knowledge you are familiar with - even if you think these are outdated or too exotic. Grading yourself allows you to mention areas in which your knowledge is not extensive - without risk of exaggeration.

And once again - even though it may sound redundant: don't write anything in your application that's not true. You can be sure we'll find out. :-)

And last but not least: don't be intimidated. As long as your application doesn't exaggerate, and you are intelligent as well as eager to learn, there are good chances we will connect!
