When Dr. Ulrich Schwanengel founded ConSol as a one-man company in 1984 in Munich, Germany, he was determined to find a professional solution for complex IT questions. He hit the nail on the head: Within the span of a few years, he was able to win over renowned customers, including the Fraunhofer Society, IBM, Porsche, the Munich Re Group, and Siemens, as well as expand his team, hiring renowned Unix and network experts from the U.S., among others.
ConSol became a GmbH (a German legal entity, literally: ‘company with limited liability’) in 1991. The company moved into its current headquarters at Franziskanerstrasse 38, Munich in 1995, and has steadily grown ever since.
Today, ConSol has around 260 employees worldwide. With subsidiaries in Dusseldorf and Nuremburg (Germany), Krakow (Poland), Vienna (Austria), Dubai (UAE), and San Francisco, the company is perfectly equipped for international operations – ensuring proximity to customers, premium software development, and first-rate 24/7 service all around the world.
Three long-time ConSol employees have been serving on the management board alongside company founder and owner Dr. Ulrich Schwanengel since 2001.
ConSol’s company philosophy has hinged upon the principle of ‘Quality through expertise’ for over 30 years. This has led to great success: ConSol has regularly ranked high on ‘best of’ lists such as ‘Europe’s 500,’ ‘Bayerns Best 500,’ and the ‘Deloitte Technology Fast 50’ since 1998. Moreover, ConSol won the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award in 2004.
None of this would have been possible without the company’s committed, highly qualified employees. ConSol’s proprietary employee shares program, CoMit, makes company employees partners in the business: 50 percent of the company’s annual profits are distributed among employees.
Moreover, ConSol also emphasizes maintaining a healthy work/life balance and creating an inspiring work environment. The focus is on the individual, an approach that has led ConSol to win a number of prizes: The company took first place in the ‘Germany’s Best Employer’ competition several years in a row, and was also named one of the ‘Best Workplaces in Europe.’ ConSol has also received esteemed recognition and awards for specific company activities, such as ones targeting life-long learning, combining career with family, equal opportunities, and preventative healthcare.
ConSol as a full-service IT provider reflects the company’s core fields of business: IT Consulting, Individual Software, and IT Operations – including ISO 9001-certified 24/7 customer support. This forms a basis for sustainable growth and supports the continuous development of innovative solutions.
Meanwhile, the company’s proprietary ConSol CM software solution is an essential component of the ConSol portfolio. It was brought onto the market in 1997 under the name of CallManager® and named ‘Solution of the Year’ by IBM that same year. ConSol CM now successfully caters to over 200 customers with over 10,000 CRM and customer-oriented BPM users.
ConSol added the creative department allez!, which provides Internet solutions, media design, and e-commerce consulting, to its service portfolio in 2001.
ConSol also makes an active, significant contribution to the latest technological developments through its Open Source Monitoring Business Unit and large-scale big data initiative. Moreover, the company has also made a name for itself over the past few years by organizing meetups and having representatives give lectures on topics such as agile testing, deep learning, Docker, and Kubernetes. ConSol is considered an early adopter of new technologies, and quickly implements these into practical company solutions.
